Earnhardt Will “Experience Jackson” At MIS

Most people won’t have the opportunity to experience Jackson County, Michigan, like Jeffrey Earnhardt, who will roar around Michigan International Speedway Saturday at speeds in the neighborhood of 200 miles per hour.

But there are many other ways to enjoy Jackson, and Earnhardt will be promoting them this week as Experience Jackson sponsors his JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet in Saturday’s Nationwide Series race at MIS.

Team owner Johnny Davis announced the sponsorship Thursday.

Experience Jackson (www.experiencejackson.com) promotes the wealth of recreational and educational activities available to tourists and residents alike in Jackson County. Events at MIS bring thousands of visitors to Jackson several times a year, and many of them experience the bonuses of a Jackson visit beyond the speedway excitement.

“We’re happy to have the Experience Jackson folks on board this weekend,” Earnhardt said. “I’ve been to the area many times and have a special appreciation for that part of the country. I hope we can help spotlight Jackson and the many things there are to see and do in Jackson County.”

Jackson County has numerous museums, art galleries, wineries, parks and other attractions.

Jackson is offering tours of the first state prison and will open a new prison museum at the end of the month – the only prison museum located at a currently operating facility.

Among Jackson’s spotlighted places is The Cascades, a man-made attraction that features six huge fountains, three reflecting pools and 16 blended waterfalls. The Cascades and its light show attract thousands of visitors every year.

Earnhardt, grandson of seven-time Sprint Cup champion Dale Earnhardt Sr., is racing full-time in the Nationwide Series for the first time this season.
