Viva Motorsports TreatMyClot.Com 300 Post Race Report

Heading into the TreatMyClot.Com 300 at Auto Club Speedway Jamie Dick and the No.55 Viva Auto Group Chevrolet team were ready for redemption. The day started out with Coors Light Pole Qualifying where the weather was unexpectedly cold and overcast.  Jamie Dick struggled to find the speed needed for a solid qualifying spot ending up 34th. The 25 year old El Paso, TX native had confidence that if the weather warmed up, his Viva Auto Group Chevrolet would be fast heading into the 150 lap race.  But the day went downhill very quickly as a flat right rear tire on the first lap caused Dick to loose control of the car in turn three and hit the outside wall.  Repairs were made quickly without loosing many laps, and the team was still confident in a solid finish.  During the first routine pit stop on lap 45 it became evident that further repairs were needed to continue.  The team pushed the car into the garage to fix the issue and Dick was back out on lap 66, 23 laps down. Through out the remainder of the race, Dick was fighting a tight car due to all the damage from the lap 1 incident.  Dick ended up finishing the race in the 34th position.

“We just had a bad race,” said Jamie Dick. “In this sport days like this are going to happen, you hope they are rare occurrences but all you can do is stick it out, fight through it and move on to the next one. I’m very proud of my team for all their hard work, so we use this off weekend to re-focus and get after it in Texas.”
