Kyle Larson NNS Preview: Kansas Speedway

Off To See The Wizard…Kyle Larson heads to Kansas City, Kansas to make his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway. Although Larson has not previously raced at Kansas Speedway, he has been building experience at 1.5-mile tracks over the past year, competing in three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) events, earning a best finish of sixth at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and eight NNS events, earning a top finish of fourth at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Let It Fly…Cessna will serve as Larson’s sponsor for this weekend’s race at Kansas Speedway, marking the seventh time the No. 32 has featured the company this season. Cessna, the world’s leading general aviation company, has designed, produced and delivered more than 193,500 airplanes around the globe. This includes more than 6,300 Citation business jets, making it the largest fleet of business jets in the world.

This Week’s Camaro…Crew chief Trent Owens and the No. 32 Turner Scott Motorsports team will bring chassis TSM-406 with them to Kansas Speedway this weekend. This particular chassis has only been used once by the Cessna team. Larson utilized TSM-406 two weeks ago at Kentucky Speedway, where a right front wheel hub failure relegated the No. 32 team to a 33rd-place finish.

Oh, So Close…Larson’s runner-up finish at Dover International Speedway marked his third second-place finish in the NNS this season. The 21-year-old did find victory lane in the NCWTS at Rockingham Speedway this year, and has 14 wins in the sprint car ranks, but is still seeking his first win in the NNS. In addition to his three NNS runner-up finishes (Bristol, Michigan, Dover), Larson has also finished second once in the NCWTS (Eldora) and 14 times in sprint car action this year.

Watch and Listen…The Kansas Lottery 300 will air live on ESPN on Saturday, October 5 with race coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m. EDT. The race will also be broadcast on MRN Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90, with coverage beginning at 3:00 p.m. EDT.

Previous Race Recap…After two tough weekends in a row, Larson hoped to turn his luck around at Dover International Speedway in Saturday’s 5-hour ENERGY 200. Despite fluctuating between tight and loose in the weekend’s lone practice session, Larson still felt that he had a solid car for the 200-lap race. After qualifying 17th at the Monster Mile, Larson quickly began working his way forward in the No. 32 LiftMaster Chevrolet Camaro. A strong strategy call by crew chief Trent Owens put Larson near the front and the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender took it from there, earning his third second-place finish of the year.

Kyle Larson on Kansas Speedway:

“It’s hard to believe that we only have a handful of races left and that Kansas will be the last track that I will be racing at for the first time this season. After a couple weeks of bad luck, it was nice to get a good finish at Dover. I hope my Turner Scott Motorsports team and I can keep that momentum rolling over for the final five races of the year, starting with a good run this weekend at Kansas.”
