Wallace ready for battle of Atlanta

Mike Wallace’s history with Atlanta Motor Speedway goes back a few thousand laps.

Wallace won the pole for an ARCA race at the 1.5-mile track in 1992 and scored an ARCA win there in 1994.

The St. Louis driver will return to the super-fast track this weekend for Saturday’s Great Clips/Grit Chips 300 Nationwide Series race in the GK Services 01 Chevrolet fielded by JD Motorsports with Gary Keller.

“I’ve always enjoyed running the track although I’ve been kind of up and down there,” Wallace said. “Turns one and two always race totally different from three and four. You run one and two at the top and three and four in the middle to bottom. We’re looking for a good day there.”

At 300.3 miles, Saturday’s race will be one of the longest of the Nationwide season.

The first round of practice is scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (ET) Friday.

Another practice session is scheduled from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by qualifying at 4:05 p.m. and the 195-lap race at 7:30 p.m.
