Justin Allgaier NNS Preview: Michigan International Speedway

Motor City…This weekend the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) heads to Michigan International Speedway (MIS) for the only NNS stop on the circuit in the ‘Great Lakes State.’ This will be Allgaier’s fifth race in his manufacturer’s back yard, where he’s finished in the top five once, and top 10 twice out of four races. General Motors Headquarters is located in Detroit, Mich., approximately an hour-and-a-half from the 2.0-mile track in Brooklyn, Mich.

Meet Justin…Allgaier will join his Turner Scott Motorsports teammates at the NNS MIS autograph session on Friday, June 14 from 4:15-5:00 p.m. EDT, located at the Bud Acceleration Club, behind the Turn 4 grandstands. Following the NNS race on Saturday evening, Allgaier will head to Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Ind. with other NASCAR drivers to race his UMP DIRT Modified.

In-Car Camera…The No. 31 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet Camaro will have an in-car camera sponsored by Pep Boys for the race broadcast. This weekend’s Alliance Truck Parts 250 can be seen live on ABC on Saturday, June 15 at 2:00 p.m. EDT. You can also listen to the race on MRN Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90 beginning at 1:45 p.m. EDT.

This Week’s Camaro…This weekend the No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet team will utilize chassis TSM-401. TSM-401 is new to the TSM stable this year and has made one previous start this season at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Recapping Iowa…Allgaier qualified 11th for the DuPont Pioneer 250 at Iowa Speedway. What was originally scheduled as a Saturday night race under the lights turned into a Sunday morning race after rain postponed the 250-lap event. After the event was red-flagged for more than an hour on Sunday for a quick downpour, Allgaier brought the No. 31 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet Camaro home in 8th. Allgaier moved up to third in the NNS Driver Point Standings.

Crew chief Scott Zipadelli on Michigan International Speedway:

“This is the second time back to Michigan [International Speedway] since the track has been repaved. Practice will be huge this weekend because we don’t know how the track has weathered and how its grip level will be. We will need to qualify well there and take some chances to get the win.”

Justin Allgaier on Michigan International Speedway:

“Michigan [International Speedway] is an interesting race track because it’s so big. The width of the race track and the racing lane is incredible. Last year we saw over 200 miles per hour getting into the corner, and there’s not many of us that don’t enjoy going that fast into the corner. The fans are great and the track does a great job hosting us. It’s Father’s Day weekend as well, which makes it  special. My dad has been very influential in my career and always supported me, so it’s nice to spend the weekend with him.
