Bayne Captures 200th Nationwide Win for Ford Racing

Trevor Bayne rallied back to win the rain-delayed DuPont Pioneer 250 at Iowa Speedway in Newton, IA on Sunday. In a race scheduled for Saturday night before being washed out by rain, Bayne passed Austin Dillon with 13 laps left to give the No. 6 car its fourth win in five races at Iowa.

Bayne’s win is the 200th for Ford Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the 999th all-time victory for Ford Motor Company in NASCAR’s top three series combined.

“I am so proud of this team and what they accomplished here today,” said Bayne. “We were so far back we could barely see the lap car. We got caught in traffic. We raced pretty hard and caught a door on the straightaway and I got Dillon loose once. We raced clean and we got by him and we were able to drive away.”

The victory capped off a memorable week for Bayne, 22, who got married on Tuesday in North Carolina.

Scott Bloomquist had a dream weekend, capturing Saturday night’s 100-lap Dirt late Model Dream XIX at Eldora Speedway with his Roush Yates powered engine. Bloomquist marched forward at Tony Stewart’s half-mile oval and took the lead from Jimmy Mars on lap 65. He never let up and dominated the remainder of the race to win the $100,000 top prize for a record sixth time.

“Racing ain’t getting any easier,” said Bloomquist, who made his 17th career Dram start this weekend. “The competition is getting tougher. You have to just never quit looking and searching.”

Bloomquist’s past Dream victories came in 1995, 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008.
