Landon Cassill Darlington Post-Race

A long hard fight with the“Lady in Black” saw Landon Cassill and the No. 4 Flex Seal team cross the stripe in the 23rd position on Friday, May 10th.

The Nationwide Series was a one day show on Friday, with the competitors using the lone morning practice session to tune their racecars for the race. Cassill, using familiar JDM Chassis 014, ended the session in 23rd. He backed that performance up in qualifying by rolling off the grid 20th.

As the race started, the No. 4 Flex Seal machine settled into its spot on the track. The field was slowed for a caution at lap 25, where Crew Chief Marc Browning decided to stay out on the track to lead a lap. After starting towards the back, Cassill had the No. 4 car back up to 22nd by lap 92.

The ensuing long green flag run, coupled with bad track position, left Cassill stranded one lap down. A pit stop on lap 111 enabled the experienced Cassill to pit for gas and four fresh Goodyear tires. For the remainder of the night, Cassill raced one lap down fighting for positions with teammate Wallace in the No. 01. As the checked flag flew, the team ended the race with a top-25, allowing the team to advance in the Owner’s Points battle to 29th. The No. 4 Flex Seal Chevrolet is now “locked in” for the homecoming weekend at Charlotte.

Landon Cassill Quotes: “I want to thank Flex Seal and all the guys for the hard work this weekend. We were decent in practice and the race. Unfortunately, we were caught a lap down, and we were never able to get the Lucky Dog to get back. Darlington is a fun track because the of the tire wear, and after 20 laps the whole field was basically running similar times. I am looking forward to returning at Charlotte after a short off weekend.”
