Richmond International Raceway officials announced today the Virginia529 College Savings Plan has renewed its partnership with America’s Premier Short Track. TheVirginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race kicks off the September NASCAR Doubleheader weekend “under the lights” on Friday night, September 6. The Virginia529 College Savings Plan remains the Official College Savings Plan of the track, presenting sponsor of the Family Sections presented by Virginia529 College Savings Plan and the Virginia529 Kids Zone powered by the Science Museum of Virginia.

“I am pleased to announce that once again, Virginia529 will be the title sponsor of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at RIR on September 6th,” said Mary G. Morris, CEO of the Virginia529 College Savings Plan. “Additionally, Virginia529 will partner again with the Science Museum of Virginia and NASA on the Virginia529 Kids Zone, providing race fans and families at all of the Spring and Fall races with an opportunity for fun, exploration of STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) aspects of racing and education about Virginia529’s four tax-advantaged college savings programs, available to families across the country. The combined partnership is a perfect fit for our message about continued learning and the importance of education no matter what you do in life, since racing is really a big science experiment on wheels and success involves applied STEM skills in addition to athletic ability.”

“The Virginia529 College Savings Plan continues to be an excellent partner for Richmond International Raceway,” said RIR President Dennis Bickmeier. “To have an entitlement sponsor back for a fifth year and to see their increased activation with the family sections and kids zone is a testament to the perfect fit between the track and this great Richmond-based organization.”

The Virginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race is part of one of the biggest weekends on the entire NASCAR season schedule.
