Gary Phillips Named Vice President of Marketing at Sonoma Raceway

Gary Phillips, who has led the ticket sales operation at Sonoma Raceway for 10 years, has been named the raceway’s Vice President of Marketing, officials announced.

Phillips will oversee all marketing and advertising for the raceway’s major events, including NASCAR, INDYCAR and NHRA drag races, as well as other strategic initiatives for building company revenue.

Phillips has been employed at Sonoma Raceway since 2002. He was hired as director of ticket sales and promoted to vice president of ticket sales and customer relations in 2006.

“Gary’s creative spark and dedication to results make him the perfect candidate to lead the raceway’s marketing team,” said Steve Page, president & general manager of Sonoma Raceway. “I’m excited to see the new initiatives they’ll be rolling out for the new season.”

Prior to joining the raceway, Phillips spent three years as the director of ticketing for the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. Phillips also worked for six years with the Athletics in their ticket operations and services department.

“I am excited at this new opportunity and I look forward to taking the raceway to the next level,” Phillips said. “We have a great team here and I know we’ll do great things.”

Phillips is a 1993 graduate from UC Davis. He lives in Walnut Creek in the East Bay with his wife Kristen, and their three children.
