Celebrities to Visit Coca-Cola Family Ice Rink This Week to Support Speedway Children’s Charities

This week at the Coca-Cola Family Ice Rink at Speedway Christmas, one of the nation’s largest light shows, fans can meet NASCAR driver Joey Logano and stars of the truTV show “Lizard Lick Towing,” Ron and Amy Shirley, all while supporting a good cause.

After some of NASCAR’s hottest drivers finish two days of testing at Charlotte Motor Speedway, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Logano will take a few laps with fans around the Coca-Cola Family Ice Rink. Fans can skate with the Penske Racing driver on Wednesday at 6 p.m. as a part of Speedway Children’s Charities night, and a portion of each $12 admission will go to the charity. Logano, who is originally from Connecticut, has strong family ties to hockey and figure skating. His family owns and operates the Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail, N.C. which partnered with Charlotte Motor Speedway to create the 5,100-square-foot real ice rink and ice slide at the Coca-Cola Ice Rink. The rink is open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Saturday, fans can meet Ron and Amy Shirley, from the truTV show “Lizard Lick Towing.” They will be on hand to sign autographs and sell merchandise from 6 to 9 p.m. The first 500 fans through the gate on Saturday will receive a wristband for an autograph. No purchase is necessary. In addition, fans can purchase the latest Lizard Lick Towing merchandise, just in time for Christmas. A portion of the proceeds from merchandise sales will be donated to Speedway Children’s Charities. The rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.

The Coca-Cola Family Ice Rink, sponsored by New Life 91.9 FM will be open daily through Jan. 21, excluding Christmas Day. Admission is $12, which includes skate rentals. For information about group lessons or private events at the rink, call Extreme Ice Center at 704-882-1830.

Speedway Christmas, which includes more than 3 million lights on a 3.5-mile drive-through course, is open 6 to 10 p.m. nightly through Dec. 30, excluding Christmas Day. Tickets are available online or at the gate nightly during event hours for drive-up traffic. Admission is just $15 per car on nights the Christmas village is closed and $20 per car on nights the village is open. Group packages are available.
