Movies on World’s Largest HDTV Add to Speedway Christmas Fun

Visitors looking to add even more holiday cheer to an already festive night at Speedway Christmas can now add a drive-in movie to the fun every Friday and Saturday night through Dec. 30 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

With holiday classics like “It’s a Wonderful Life” or “A Christmas Story” and more recent fan favorites like and “Elf,” guests are sure to find just the right movie to get them in the holiday spirit.

“There’s something nostalgic about families watching movies on the world’s largest HDTV, just like many moms and dads did at old-fashioned drive-ins,” said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. “And those fond memories are the kinds of memories we want to create for younger generations here enjoying the light show and Christmas village.”

Families are encouraged to come early and take in the Speedway Christmas light show, featuring more than 3 million lights along a course of nearly 3.5-miles, and the Christmas Village before settling in for the movie.

Movie nights will be held every Friday and Saturday. Admission is included with the purchase of a ticket into Speedway Christmas. Movie nights are presented by Great Wolf Lodge and will begin at 7 p.m. each night:

Nov. 30 and Dec. 1: “It’s A Wonderful Life”
Dec. 7 and 8: “Elf”
Dec. 14 and 15: “A Christmas Story”
Dec. 21 and 22: “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
Dec. 28 and 29: “Christmas Vacation”

Operating hours for Speedway Christmas will be 6 to 10 p.m. nightly through Dec. 30, excluding Christmas Day. Tickets are available online or at the gate nightly during event hours for drive-up traffic. Admission is just $15 per car on nights the Christmas village is closed and $20 per car on nights the village is open. Group packages are available.
