Darlington Raceway to host third annual Toys for Tots fundraiser on Novemeber 17th

For the third consecutive year, Darlington Raceway is giving race fans a unique opportunity to assist local children in need this Christmas season.

The trackToo Tough to Tame will once again partner with the Pee Dee area’s U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program to host a special fundraiser and toy drive giving each donor the opportunity to take a few pace laps around the famed 1.366-mile egg-shaped oval in their personal vehicle for a cash or toy donation.

The Darlington Raceway Toys for Tots Fundraiser & Toy Drive will take place on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the infield at theLady in Black.

“Our Toys for Tots Fundraiser and Toy Drive really makes an impact in the local community thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our race fans and supporters,” Darlington president Chris Browning said. “It’s important that every child has a toy to open on Christmas so working with Toys for Tots to help give back to thousands of children each year is something we are very proud of at Darlington Raceway.”

Participants are encouraged to make a $20 cash donation or bring a new, unwrapped toy with a minimum $20 value to be eligible for the pace laps. Motorcycles will not be permitted. Passenger vehicles only.

Additionally, donation boxes will be setup in the Darlington Raceway ticket office and museum during normal business hours for those that cannot attend the Toy Drive on Nov. 17.

Last year’s Toy Drive at Darlington Raceway generated over $5,000 worth of toys and cash donations making it the Pee Dee’s single-largest toy collection day of the season. Donations benefit five local counties – Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Marion and Williamsburg, respectively.

“We truly appreciate the efforts by track president Chris Browning and his staff to open up Darlington Raceway and allow its fans to participate in this special event, which is our largest collection event of the season,” Jim Williams, U.S. Marines Toys for Tots Program Coordinator said. “Because of the generosity of great local community members like Darlington Raceway, a child in need will be able to open a gift this Christmas season.”
