Bank of America 500 Race Week Entertainm​ent Lineup

Charlotte Motor Speedway is finalizing plans for the most action-packed week sports fans will experience in 2012, all leading up to the Bank of America 500 on Oct. 13.

Before the green flag drops on the only Saturday night race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship, fans can enjoy a full week of activities from a Bandolero race featuring some of the women of NASCAR and the Ultimate Fan Track Walk around the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway to special appearances from Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and free concerts by Victoria Justice and country rockers Big & Rich.

Below are just some of the activities fans can enjoy:

Better Half Dash Practice and Qualifying

What: The women of NASCAR will take to the frontstretch quarter-mile oval for a final practice for the Better Half Dash. Following the practice session, drivers will go all out for qualifying to determine the starting order for Thursday’s 25-lap charity showdown.

Where: Charlotte Motor Speedway frontstretch quarter-mile oval.

When: Monday, Oct. 8, 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

NASCAR Night

What: Members of the NASCAR Industry are invited to race their personal rides down the Bellagio of drag strips, zMAX Dragway, during NASCAR Night. Fans can also pay to take a ride in a souped-up SRT Dodge Charger provided by the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Proceeds for the event will go to the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.

When: Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Tickets: $10 contribution to Speedway Children’s Charities for NASCAR teams; $5 contribution to SCC for fans to watch; kids 13 and under get in free.

Circle K Late Model Showdown

What: The greatest show on dirt returns to The Dirt Track at Charlotte as the Circle K Late Model Showdown kicks off four action-packed days of racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The best World of Outlaws Late Model drivers in the country will take to the lightening-fast four-tenths mile clay oval for a night of metal-mashing fun.

Bojangles’ Pole Night & UNOH Southern Slam 150

What: The stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series compete for the top starting spot for the Bank of America 500. The Whelen Southern Modified Tour will battle it out on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval in the UNOH Southern Slam 150, their third race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Pole Night will also include the return of the Better Half Dash, as the ladies of NASCAR take to the frontstretch quarter-mile oval in a 25-lap charity Bandolero car race benefitting Motor Racing Outreach.

When: Thursday, Oct. 11. The Better Half Dash is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by Bojangles’ Pole Night qualifying at 7:10 p.m. and the green flag for the UNOH Southern Slam 150 at 8:30 p.m. All times are approximate.

Tickets: Adults tickets are $12 in advance/$20 day of event; Kids 13 and under will be admitted free with an adult ticket purchase.

Dollar General 300

What: Drivers in the NASCAR Nationwide Series will battle in a crucial points race at the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway during the Dollar General 300. The race will carry a pink theme, with many drivers and crew members wearing pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Fans are also encourage to show their support by wearing pink for a “Pink Out” during the race.

When: Friday, Oct. 12

Ultimate Fan Track Walk

What: Charlotte Motor Speedway will give fans the opportunity to walk around the 1.5-mile superspeedway on the day of the Bank of America 500. The Ultimate Fan Track Walk begins at 1 p.m. and proceeds will benefit the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities and The Dale Jr. Foundation. Several NASCAR personalities, as well as Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, are scheduled to walk.

When: Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.

Location: Charlotte Motor Speedway

Tickets: Fans can register for the track walk in person at Charlotte Motor Speedway and JR Motorsports during the week leading up to the Bank of America 500 or by visiting charlotte.speedwaycharities.org to register online. A $25 donation will allow fans to participate in the walk with the rate increasing to $35 after Oct. 10.

Bank of America 500

What: NASCAR drivers return home for the only Saturday night race in the Chase, the Bank of America 500. Even before the green flag drops, fans can enjoy tons of family fun during the Bank of America 500 pre-race show, presented by Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, including appearances by the Turtles, concerts by Nickelodeon’s Victoria Justice and country rockers Big & Rich, a death-defying stunt by world-famous tightrope walker Nik Wallenda and so much more.
