Stars From HISTORY Channel, Disney Take Part in World’s Biggest Memorial Day Tailgate

With so much to do around Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend, the track has certainly earned the title of world’s biggest Memorial Day tailgate party. Here’s a rundown of some of what’s planned:

Roshon Fegan to Greet Fans, Sign Autographs

Roshon Fegan, star of Disney’s “Shake it Up” and a former contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” will make a stop at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 27 before the Coca-Cola 600. Fans can join him from 3-5 p.m. in the family seating concourse beneath the Toyota Fourth Turn Terrace for an autograph session and meet and greet. Be one of the first 1,000 fans through Gate 30 and receive a wristband for an autograph from Fegan. Coca-Cola 600 tickets are required to attend. Kids tickets start at only $10.

Fans Can Get Latest News, Information on Track’s New Smart Phone App

Just in time for race fans headed to the track for the Coca-Cola 600, Charlotte Motor Speedway has launched a new smart phone app for iPhone and Android. Fans can get all the latest news from the track, view maps and schedules and even purchase tickets, all from their smart phones. While they are at the track, fans can also log on to the Charlotte Motor Speedway Facebook and Twitter pages directly from the app.

Eat with the ‘Pawn Stars,’ Watch ‘Ice Road Truckers’ Premiere

The HISTORY Channel’s hit TV show “Ice Road Truckers” will screen its season premiere on the world’s largest HDTV after the NASCAR Nationwide Series HISTORY 300 on Saturday, May 26.

Following the race, while track officials convert the frontstretch into a custom-built Global Rallycross course for a race later in the evening, fans can enjoy the season premiere on the 16,000-square-foot screen, easily visible from any frontstretch seat.

Tickets to Saturday’s racing doubleheader, which includes the HISTORY 300 and the season opener of Global Rallycross, are still available. Kids 13 and under get in free.

In addition to the “Ice Road Truckers” premier, HISTORY is bringing the stars of and “Pawn Stars” to take part in the Coca-Cola 600 festivities. For a $49 upgrade, fans can eat breakfast with Old Man, Chumlee and the rest of the cast on Saturday, May 26. The classic southern breakfast includes sausage, biscuits and gravy, and fruit. Door prizes will also be awarded.

Charlotte Motor Speedway to Recognize Longtime Fans

Charlotte Motor Speedway has a long and storied history and some fans have been here since the very beginning. To honor their loyalty and commitment, Charlotte Motor Speedway created a longtime fan program that rewards the fans that keep coming back to the Greatest Place to See the Race.

Fans who have attended races at Charlotte Motor Speedway for 50 years or more will receive a granite plaque with their name and photo and will be honored at a ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26.

In addition, they will receive a gold lanyard and photo hard card, a special decal and inclusion on the Charlotte Motor Speedway website, in the souvenir program and on the world’s largest HDTV.

LiftMaster to Recognize Firefighters During LiftMaster Pole Day

LiftMaster, the title sponsor of Thursday’s LiftMaster Pole Day events, will host members of the Albemarle Fire Department throughout the Coca-Cola 600 weekend. A four-man team from the Albemarle Fire Department won a LiftMaster skills competition, which pitted four area departments against one another in a series of firefighting and NASCAR-related drills, earlier this month.

In addition, LiftMaster donated more than 4,500 tickets to firefighters from departments across the Charlotte region as a ‘thank you’ for their service. The company also organized a parade lap featuring different apparatus from departments across the region before the start of qualifying on pole night.
