When the curtain comes down on the 2019 season Lehighton’s Mahoning Valley Speedway on Sunday, October 20, it will be a distinctive day of racing at the paved ¼-mile oval.
The afternoon program has been dubbed “The Mahoning Valley Speedway Small Car Nationals,” as all feature events will be contested with 4-cylinder of less size power-plants.
Plans are being finalized for the first of its kind show at Mahoning with a line-up that will include an Open Comp Hobby Stock/Pro 4 feature, Small Car Enduro, East Coast TQ Midgets and for the first time at Mahoning Junk Car races.
The Hobby Stock/Pro 4 Open Comp will be a combo event between the two classes. It’s an open tire rule and basically open rules for motors and such.
The Small Car Enduro will be race number eight of nine in the 2019 Mahoning Valley Speedway/Evergreen Raceway Small Car Enduro Series.
The East Coast TQ Midgets will bring to the table an exclusive group of racers that will be made up of both vintage and contemporary TQ cars.
As for the Junk Car event there was plenty of thought process that went into this unique race. Run under the same format as the West End Fair, the cars, although limited in construction for racing, will be raced on a “modified oval” rather than the full size track.
Grandstand general admission has been set at just $7 and $25 for the pits.
More details will be released soon on the first ever Mahoning Valley Speedway Small Car Nationals on Sunday afternoon, October 20. Rain date will be Saturday, October 26.
This coming Saturday, August 31 at 6:00 pm the Street Stocks will be front and center with their traditional Labor Day holiday extended lap feature paying $1000 to win. The race distance will be 75 laps and will also be a cone race. Also on the card will be Modifieds, Late Models, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks.
Coming up on Saturday, September 7 the ATQMRA TQ Midgets will join in with the regular stock car program plus the evening will conclude with race #6 of the Mahoning Valley Speedway/Evergreen Raceway Small Car Enduro Series.
