Speedway Children’s Charities Brings Food and Fun To May Race Weeks at Charlotte

This week kicks off the 10 biggest days in racing and the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities is providing many opportunities for fans to support a good cause and have some fun during NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 race weeks at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

During Coca-Cola 600 Race Weekend, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will be selling their famous doughnuts with all proceeds going to the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities. Single doughnuts will be on sale for $1. Fans can purchase a half-dozen for $5 or a dozen doughnuts for $8. SCC volunteers will also be making deliveries. Johnsonville Big Taste Grill

The Johnsonville Big Taste Grill will return to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 Race Weekends. Weighing in at 53,000 pounds and 65-feet long, the Big Taste Grill requires its own semi-truck to haul it and can cook more than 750 brats at a time. To purchase a Johnsonville Brat, stop by the huge grill in the infield. Proceeds go to the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.

Princess “4” a Day and Toy “4” a Boy

The Miss Motor Speedway Organization will bring its Princess “4” a Day and Toy “4” a Boy Programs to the POWERADE Play Zone located in the newly paved Fan Zone near the speedway’s main entrance, for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 Race Weekends. For a small donation, girls can “get their glamour on” with a princess makeover including make-up, hair and nails, along with a “glamour shot” photo, gift bag and a Miss Motor Speedway autograph card. Boys will receive a toy car. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.

Ride of a Lifetime Online Auction

Speedway Children’s Charities will provide lucky race fans with the opportunity to ride in the parade lap prior to the Coca-Cola 600 on May 27 through an online auction. The fans with the winning bid will take a parade lap around Charlotte Motor Speedway with their favorite NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and help support children in the Charlotte region. 32nd Annual NRA Foundation Speedway Children’s Charities Gala

The 32nd annual NRA Foundation Speedway Children’s Charities Gala is May 25 at The Ritz Carlton in uptown Charlotte. The Gala is one of the biggest fundraising events in the Charlotte area and has raised millions of dollars to improve the quality of life for children in the region since its inception. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the grant program of the Charlotte Chapter of SCC and will be awarded to local non-profit organizations that help children in need. Gala festivities begin at 7 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner at 8 p.m. The reception will include a silent auction featuring more than 70 items. Special guests include Mike Joy, a primary commentator for NASCAR on Fox; Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway; and Robert Raiford, a personality on The Big Show with John Boy and Billy. Speedway Children’s Charities Info Booth

On select days during NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 Race Weekends, Speedway Children’s Charities will have an information booth set up in the POWERADE Play Zone located in the newly paved Fan Zone near the speedway’s main entrance. Fans can learn about how SCC supports Charlotte-area children in need, find out how to volunteer and make donations.

There are Speedway Children’s Charities chapters at eight Speedway Motorsports, Inc., facilities: Atlanta Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, Infineon Raceway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.
