Tennessee To Texas Two Step: Race Fans can Fly Non-Stop from Tri-Citites and Back to Experience NASCAR Racing at Two Iconic Racetracks

Race fans in Northeast Tennessee and Northeast Texas can now experience the thrills of Bristol Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway easier than ever with a new American Airlines route between the Tri-Cities, Tenn. region and the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolis.

American will begin daily non-stop flights between Tri-Cities Airport (TRI) and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on September 4, 2019. However, the airline will introduce special service early, coinciding with the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race weekend, Aug. 15-17. Race fans in Texas and beyond will now have the chance to see the one-of-a-kind short track racing under the lights that Bristol Motor Speedway provides as drivers fight for a spot in the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

“American’s new daily non-stop flights between Bristol and Dallas allow race fans the opportunity to have an easier trip to see great racing at two iconic motorsports venues,” said Jerry Caldwell, executive vice president and general manager at Bristol Motor Speedway. “We’re looking forward to seeing our great friends from Texas head this way for the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race weekend and we encourage our race fans to return to the favor and make a visit for the AAA Texas 500 weekend in late October/early November.”

American flight 3722 will service the route during the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race weekend. The flight, offered from Thursday, Aug. 15 through Tuesday, Aug. 20 (minus Saturday, Aug. 17) will depart DFW at 12:25 p.m. and arrive at TRI at 3:57 before turning around at 4:22 and arriving back at DFW at 6:04. The extension of the route through Tuesday allows race fans the opportunity to extend their trip and to see the great attractions that East Tennessee has to offer.

Following the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race weekend, race fans from the Tri-Cities region can head to the Lone Star State to see the playoff action of the AAA Texas 500 weekend, Oct. 31-Nov. 3. The AAA Texas 500 serves as the second of three races in the Round of 8, meaning a win could automatically launch a playoff-eligible driver into the championship finale in Miami.

“These new flights provide a great opportunity for fans of Texas Motor Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway to be part of the excitement at both the AAA Texas 500 and the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race,” said Eddie Gossage, president of Texas Motor Speedway. “Track staffs working together to benefit race fans as well as the tracks is what it’s all about so we really appreciate the efforts of American Airlines working with us to make it happen.”
