Daytona Launches GigaPixel FANCAM Image of 2011 Daytona 500

Trevor Bayne’s historic win in the 53rd Daytona 500 is still captivating the sports world.  Starting today, the tens of thousands of fans who were at Daytona International Speedway to witness this record breaking race can go online to http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com/fancam and tag their image in the GigaPixel FANCAM photo.

“The FANCAM is a great way for our guests to share that incredible day with their friends and family,” said Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood.  “The 53rd Daytona 500 was one for the record books including most lead changes and leaders ever, and Trevor Bayne’s momentous victory adds another incredible chapter to the legacy of ‘The Great American Race.’”

The GigaPixel FANCAM image is comprised of 450 individual pictures taken during the 53rd Daytona 500 on February 20, 2011.  These pictures were then ‘stitched’ together to produce an 11,000 MegaPixel 360-degree image, allowing fans to zoom in and explore the Speedway in face-level detail.
Fans will be able to purchase a souvenir print of their image from this year’s Daytona 500 in a variety of formats to remember how they witnessed history at the “World Center of Racing.”

Also, for fans who want to relive the thrill of the 53rd Daytona 500, Emmy Award winning NASCAR Media Group and FOX Sports partnered to co-produce “The Daytona 500: The American Dream” – a one-hour documentary special delivering fresh and never-before-seen footage from Trevor Bayne’s historic run to Gatorade Victory Lane.  “The Daytona 500: The American Dream” will air on Sunday, March 13 at 1 p.m. ET.
