Kuhbander joins MIS’ Communications Department

The media landscape is always evolving, so Michigan International Speedway has hired Brad Kuhbander as manager of Media Relations to focus on assisting journalists in their knowledge and coverage of the racetrack and its events.

Kuhbander comes to MIS from the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. He spent the past 11 years in the Public Relations Department, most recently working as the manager of football information. While there, he was the club’s primary liaison between the players and media. He also compiled, tracked and developed statistical information about the club, and was the principle writer of biographical data for all the

Chiefs players and personnel and maintained all historical records for the team.

“I’m excited to join the team at Michigan International Speedway and International Speedway Corporation,” Kuhbander said. “It is a great opportunity to return to my Midwest roots and once again be surrounded by family. I am looking forward to growing my knowledge and passion of racing while assisting the media in their duties.”

Prior to his stint with the Kansas City Chiefs, Kuhbander gained valuable media relations experience while working in the Sports Information Department for the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., and Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.

“I’ve known Brad for several years, and I’m thrilled we finally get to work together,” Sammie Lukaskiewicz, senior director of Communications for MIS, said. “Brad brings the perfect blend of professionalism and a solid knowledge of media to us. Not only that, he loves motorsports and is just fun to work with.”

A graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, Kuhbander is from Hamler, Ohio. He and his wife Natalie plan to live in Adrian, Mich.

Kuhbander replaces Dennis Worden, who left MIS to become the director of Public Relations at Darlington Raceway, one of MIS’ sister racetracks in South Carolina.
