Pit Note No. 1: NASCAR Partners with The Weather Company

NASCAR announced Friday that the sanctioning body has entered into a partnership with The Weather Company and its Weather Channel brand. The goal is to give the sanctioning body and race fans a more accurate tool to gauge the weather during NASCAR events. As part of the agreement, The Weather Company will also become the official weather partner of NASCAR.

Additionally, The Weather Company – an Atlanta-based organization – will provide a dashboard for NASCAR featuring enhanced graphics and better real-time data.

NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Ben Kennedy was on hand for the announcement at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Kennedy noted how much the teams depend on accurate weather information over the course of a race weekend.

“We use weather all the time in racing these cars.” said Kennedy, “There are so many factors. The weather makes a difference with the temperature and humidity and head winds or tail winds, and that relates to how our cars are set up and how they race.”
