Darlington Raceway to Host Community Bud Shootout Watch Party

The 2012 NASCAR racing season is just around the corner and Darlington Raceway is teaming up with partners Crown Beverages, Buffalo Wild Wings and Eagle 92.9 FM, to kick off the season by hosting a Budweiser Shootout Community Watch Party on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Buffalo Wild Wings (2601 David H. McLeod Blvd.) in Florence, S.C. The event is free and open to the public.

Darlington Raceway recognizes the importance of being good community members and the watch party is an extension of that commitment to get local residents of Darlington, Florence and other surrounding counties excited about the upcoming race season.

The community watch party will feature food and drink specials courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings and Crown Beverages and also give fans who attend the chance to win an Ultimate Southern 500® Tailgate for four, which includes four (4) Southern 500® tickets, four (4) Nationwide Series tickets, 100 wings from Buffalo Wild Wings and a 12-pack cooler filled with your favorite Anheuser-Busch product, which will be drawn and announced at the end of the Bud Shootout.

The Southern 500 race weekend at Darlington Raceway is scheduled for May 11-12.

“The community watch party will be a lot of fun in that it will get our local residents excited about NASCAR and Darlington Raceway as we kick off the 2012 racing campaign,” Darlington Raceway President Chris Browning said. “NASCAR has a lot of momentum heading into this season as fans witnessed a great championship battle between Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards in 2011 and also saw many first-time winners in our sport, including last year’s Southern 500 winner, Regan Smith. The Bud Shootout always puts on a great show for fans and hopefully the community will come out and watch the race with us at Buffalo Wild Wings in Florence this weekend.”

Race fans that attend the watch party will also be the first to take advantage of Darlington’s upcoming “Daytona 500 Ticket Offer presented by Coca-Cola.”

Fans who purchase tickets for this year’s Southern 500 at the watch party or during the week of the Daytona 500, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26, will receive a special Southern 500 pre-race ceremony pass courtesy of the track’s beverage provider Coca-Cola, which will give a select group of fans the opportunity to watch driver introductions on the track in front of the pre-race stage.

It is the first time Darlington Raceway has offered a pass for driver introductions thanks to a strong partnership with Coca-Cola.

The “Daytona 500 Ticket Offer presented by Coca-Cola” can be purchased by calling 843-395-8802 or by visiting DarlingtonRaceway.com/daytona500 beginning on Feb. 18. The offer will only be available from the time of the watch party through the week of the Daytona 500 until the checkered flag drops on Feb 26.

“This is a great opportunity for our fans to purchase tickets to the Southern 500 and receive a special pre-race ceremony pass thanks to our partnership with Coca-Cola,” Browning said. “We’ve never offered this opportunity to fans before so we hope that people take advantage of this spectacular offer the week of the Daytona 500! There is a limited supply of ceremony passes so it will sell fast next week.”

Darlington Raceway, or the track Too Tough To Tame as it is known to many, is where the purest of NASCAR competition meets true southern hospitality. A NASCAR staple since 1950, Darlington Raceway has seen some of motorsports most talented drivers thunder to Gatorade Victory Lane. On Mother’s Day weekend, May 11-12, 2012, NASCAR’s biggest stars return to battle the track Too Tough To Tame in the Sprint Cup Series Southern 500® and Nationwide Series Darlington 200.
