In the midst of a season of strong showings, including six top-10 and three top-five finishes in seven starts, Michael Self and Sinclair Oil Corporation have announced that they will add next week’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event at Chicagoland Speedway to their schedule.
Self will take the wheel of the No. 88 Sinclair Oil Chevrolet with Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) for next Thursday’s “Scott 150,” which features 100 laps at the 1.5-mile oval just outside Chicago. Self previously joined forces with MMM for the Pocono (Penn.) Raceway and Iowa Speedway ARCA Racing Series events, where he finished third and fourth, respectively.
“Adding another ARCA race, especially at Chicagoland with Mason Mitchell Motorsports to our schedule is really exciting,” said Self. “We’ve had so much fun with Sinclair on the car this year everywhere we’ve gone, and I feel like we’ve had some great runs, especially in the ARCA stuff. Sinclair has been such an amazing group to work with, and I feel like the feedback between the fans and the Sinclair customer base has been so strong that we’re really developing one of the most recognizable partnerships in stock-car car racing.”
Though the number may be different, fans will still recognize the Sinclair machine as it will carry the familiar Dino Car livery seen on Self’s No. 28 and No. 9 ARCA and K&N cars throughout the season.
“I feel like we’ve raced very well both times that Michael has been behind the wheel in our cars,” owner Mason Mitchell stated. “Hopefully the third time is the charm and we can end in victory lane next Thursday evening.”
“I had a blast working with Mason and everyone at Mason Mitchell Motorsports at Pocono and Iowa,” said Self. “There’s no doubt we were a contender to win both those races, so I have a lot of confidence and excitement going in to Chicagoland and getting the opportunity to work with them again.”
“We’re delighted that we could add another ARCA race to Michael’s schedule,” says Jack Barger, VP of marketing for Sinclair Oil Corporation. “It gives us some exposure in the Chicagoland area, where DINO has a huge fan base.”
Fans can watch next Thursday’s Scott 150 at Chicagoland Speedway on FOX Sports 1 at 7 p.m. CT. Self and Sinclair will return to the ARCA Racing Series for its season finale at Kansas Speedway Oct. 20.
