‘Dega de Mayo Celebration! “Big One on the Blvd” at Talladega Set with Outrageous Fun for All, May 5

‘Dega de Mayo? Talladega Superspeedway’s traditional “Big One on the Blvd,” the biggest party in NASCAR, takes center stage on Friday, May 5 – otherwise known as Cinco de Mayo – turning an already wild infield party into an even wilder one. ‘Dega de Mayo seems appropriate for the festivities, which will start that night at approximately 7:00 p.m. CDT.

After a host of some of NASCAR’s biggest stars ride on a Mardi-Gras style float that will parade down Talladega Blvd, the attention will turn to four, new, laughable ‘Dega de Mayo-themed fan competitions which the drivers will oversee. They include:

•    Gordo 500 – Contestants will race to consume 32 ounces of Gordo’s queso cheese. Whoever eats the cheese the fastest will win $150 and a unique trophy.

•    Stick the Ass – Four lucky contestants will be blindfolded and have their listening skills put to the test as they are led by one of the NASCAR drivers to stick a number on a large booty pinned to the fence line. Better be fast and listen carefully because the winner gets $100 and an unforgettable trophy.

•    Hat Dance – Do the Mexican Hat Dance, ‘Dega Style! Four teams of two must do the dance while popping balloons of a certain color with their feet. The winning team will take home $200 plus a special trophy.

•    Stuff the Taco – Ever dreamed of dressing up as a taco ingredient? Now’s your chance. Contestants must make their way through a course of nacho cheese to gather the ingredients and get into a giant taco shell. Once all the food components are inside, the final person is tasked with rolling the taco shell and hoping their team defeats the others. The victorious group takes home $500 and a trophy.

Some of the drivers who have participated in past “Big One on the Blvd” events include: Clint Bowyer, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Austin Dillon and more!

Don’t miss your chance to attend the biggest party in NASCAR. All infield campers, renewal guests, and fans who purchase an infield wristband ($105) can attend. Infield guests do not need to RSVP, but renewal guests that are NOT camping in the infield should click here to RSVP.

“We strive to offer not only the best on-track action, but also the best off-track experience,” Chairman of Talladega Superspeedway Grant Lynch said. “The ‘Big One’ has become a staple of Talladega Superspeedway and is, without a doubt, the biggest, most entertaining party in NASCAR. The fact that this year it falls on Cinco de Mayo means it will be an even more memorable event.”
