Track Takeover Driven by AAA Returns to Richmond International Raceway

Race fans are invited to walk on America’s Premier Short Track for the return of Track Takeover driven by AAA at Richmond International Raceway. The fan-friendly event is open to all ticketholders of the TOYOTA OWNERS 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, April 30. Fans will have the opportunity to stop by Richmond’s historic Start/Finish line where they can sign their name and be etched into the track’s history just hours prior to the green flag.

AAA partnered with Richmond in 2016 for this unique event, and brought along Austin Dillon and Richard Childress Racing for the ride. Dillon, driver of the iconic No. 3 for Richard Childress Racing (RCR) in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is one of the sports’ rising stars. Combining a new school flair with an appreciation for the sport’s history, Dillon appeals to fans of all ages.

At Track Takeover driven by AAA, Dillon will take part in on-track activities hosted by Michael Blair on the Frontstretch Stage at 11 a.m. Fans will share a memorable experience as they witness the one of the sport’s young guns share stories about his time in the sport and his career to date.

“Track Takeover provides an incomparable race day experience for NASCAR fans,” said Richmond’s President Dennis Bickmeier. “AAA continues to be the perfect partner to provide NASCAR fans with a unique on-track experience. This year’s Track Takeover promises to be the best yet.”

In addition to on-track activities with Dillon and other members of the RCR team, AAA is bringing along the No. 3 AAA showcar. Fans can take a peek inside and get a souvenir photo with the NASCAR race car. After checking out the No. 3, fans will be treated to live entertainment along with special giveaways on the track.

“We’ve enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Richmond and are excited for our second year bringing Track Takeover to the fans,” said Matt Haas, Managing Director of Marketing for AAA Club Alliance. “AAA’s focus is on drivers and their cars – many of which are race fans. So this is a great opportunity for us to include our partners at RCR and create a unique at-track experience for those fans.”

A highlight of Track Takeover driven by AAA is that fans will be able to walk around the entire ¾-mile D-shaped oval and experience the 14-degree turns. Along the way, fans will find interactive displays providing behind-the-scenes looks at the sport they love. The official Richmond Pace Car, Air Titans, and Safety-Kleen will all give fans a unique view of NASCAR.

Fans will also be treated to the inside of driver Matt Tifft’s No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR XFINITY Series hauler. Fans can see the inner workings of a NASCAR hauler and what it takes to get a car ready for a race weekend. Toyota will also be sharing premium giveaways with fans on the track as well as pumping tunes and getting the party started with the DJ Sienna.

Monster Energy, NASCAR’s premier series entitlement sponsor, will join track side to engage fans in unique and exciting ways. For our RIR Kids Club audience, the MathScience Innovation Center will be on hand to show fans what a large role STEM plays in the sport of NASCAR.

All of this and more will be part of Track Takeover driven by AAA on Sunday, April 30. Fans can access the event beginning at 10 a.m. via crossover gates located around the track.

AAA has partnered with the track on a special ticket offer for fans to attend Track Takeover and the TOYOTA OWNERS 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race.
