Following an action-packed season opener two weeks ago, Kingsport Speedway is ready to rock the night this Friday, April 7.
“The Concrete Jungle” will roar back into action with 175 laps of action on tap. The night of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing will be headlined by the Late Model Stock Car division’s 60-lap feature. Modified Street, Pure 4, Mod 4 and Pure Street divisions are also set for action.
Pit gates open at 2 p.m on Friday, grandstand gates open at 5:30 p.m., qualifying begins at 7 p.m. and the green flag waves at 8 p.m.
Adult admission is $10 and children 12-and-under are admitted free of charge. Tier parking is available for $10 per vehicle plus admission.
“We can’t wait to get back racing under the lights,” said Karen Tunnell, Kingsport Speedway general manager. “There’s just something intense and special about Friday night racing at Kingsport Speedway.”
The Kingsport Speedway Little Racers Club will also be in full swing from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. with fun activities for kids 12-and-under.
At the season-opening event on March 25, defending track champion Ronnie McCarty made the best of a late-race restart to take the lead and win the season’s first Late Model Stock Car feature. McCarty had battled all race long with Chad Finchum, Kres VanDyke, Zeke Shell, Wayne Hale and Nate Monteith. Finchum and VanDyke lead most of the race until the lap 51 restart.
Royce Peters won the caution-filled Modified Street race.
Billy Byington and Billy Ketron battled for most of the intense 30-lap Pure 4 race. Byington would pull ahead on the final restart of the race to take the win.
Kevin Canter won the Mod 4 feature, while Joey Sykes put on a dominant performance to in the Pure Street race.
Open practice will take place on Friday, April 6 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.
