Denny Hamlin Joins Martinsville Speedway’s Green Flag Experience

With a total of seven grandfather clock trophies keeping time, Denny Hamlin shouldn’t have any excuse for being late to the Green Flag Experience before the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway on April 2.

Hamlin, who in addition to his five Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series wins and two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series wins at NASCAR’s only remaining original track, is the defending Daytona 500 champion and is the first driver to sign on to take part in a moderated question-and-answer session prior to the race.

“By having Denny Hamlin take part in the Green Flag Experience we are really giving our fans the chance to hear from one of the favorites to win the race, on race morning. In what other sport can you get that?” Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell said. “Denny offers such a unique perspective here, not only as a Virginian, but as someone who has found success in pretty much everything he has raced here, from a Late Model to a Truck and obviously in Cup.”

While Hamlin is the first driver to join, he won’t be the last. Additional drivers participating in the Green Flag Experience will be named in the coming weeks.

The Green Flag Experience also gives fans the chance to watch driver introductions from the track, along with a morning full of fun and excitement on the track and under the large tent in The Plaza, located on the hill behind the souvenir display area.

In addition to the emceed question-and-answer sessions, the Green Flag Experience offers fans the opportunity to walk the frontstretch on race morning, sign the start/finish line, a photo opportunity in mock Victory Lane, enjoy music, games and prizes along with doughnuts, Danishes, coffee and juice.

The cost of the Green Flag Experience is $50 for adults and $30 for youth 12-and-under.

Prices for the Green Flag Experience increase on March 1.

The driver question-and-answer sessions, food, music, games and prizes, and show cars will be held in The Plaza from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. The track portion will open at 10:00 and will remain open until the conclusion of driver introductions.

Admission to the Green Flag Experience does not include a ticket for the STP 500.

Advance ticket prices for the STP 500 begin at just $45.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 877.RACE.TIX or online at www.martinsvillespeedway.com.
