Megan Renninger Earns Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 2011 Employee of the Year Award

Megan (Smith) Renninger has been named Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 2011 Employee of the Year. Presented annually, the award recognizes an individual who goes above and beyond the call of duty in executing his or her responsibilities.

The winner is determined by a vote of the speedway’s executive committee and is selected from Employee of the Month award recipients.

“Megan is an integral part of our operation,” said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. “She has shown tremendous growth in her time here. She is dedicated to making sure that our fans have at our events and that their visit is enjoyable and easy.”

As the 2011 Employee of the Year recipient, Renninger received a monetary bonus, a reserved parking space and a trip to Las Vegas for Friday’s 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony.

Renninger, of Slatington, Penn., joined the speedway’s staff in February of 2007 as an intern, then came on board full time in September of the same year. Her position as event logistics coordinator involves working with both the events department and guest services department to complete budgets, ordering, payroll for sub departments and speedway maps and driving directions, in addition to other duties.

“Megan has worked very hard to achieve this,” said Doug Cremer, executive director of events, to whom Renninger reports. “She is the heart of our department. Everything flows through her and she keeps everything moving.”

“It’s an honor to be chosen. It was my goal to be employee of the month and winning employee of the year is so much more than I expected,” said Renninger. “We’re looking forward to the banquet. It will be the first trip to Las Vegas for both my husband and I, so we’re excited to experience that together.”
