TMS Celebrates Tony Stewart with #TBT Goes Up in Smoke gallery

Texas Motor Speedway will honor retiring Tony Stewart’s career at the speedway with a 20-image photo gallery for fans to pay tribute to him on their social media platforms leading into Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Using “Throwback Thursday” for its social integration theme, the speedway kicks off “#TBT Goes Up In Smoke” beginning today with a selection of photos that span Stewart’s versatile career at Texas Motor Speedway dating to the facility’s inaugural season of 1997.

The speedway is encouraging fans to select their favorite “Throwback Thursday” photo of Stewart from the gallery and pay tribute to the three-time Sprint Cup Series champion by posting the image on their social media platforms with the hashtag, #TMSSmoke.

The photos showcase Stewart competing in four different racing series throughout the years – NASCAR Sprint Cup and XFINITY, Verizon IndyCar Series and the International Race of Champions – as well as his two Sprint Cup victories and pole positions at Texas Motor Speedway.

Other photos feature Stewart with his hero, racing legend A.J. Foyt, during his INDYCAR days; visiting with a military veteran that lost both legs in combat during his annual “Smoke Show” Fantasy Camp for Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas; unveiling Danica Patrick’s car for her first Sprint Cup season; and taking part in the dedication of the speedway’s Tony Stewart Bridge.
