Evergreen Raceway Readies for Busy October

With fall upon us and with the local short track scene growing to a close, Evergreen Raceway officials are very excited about the remaining events on their 2016 schedule, including their upcoming “Fall Classic  Enduros” and their first annual “King of the Green” weekend. Several other events, both on and off track, plus in the woods are on the schedule through the first weekend of November.

Scheduled for Sunday, October 2, Evergreen’s Fall Classic will run rain or shine and feature a 100-lap Enduro for the Four Cylinders and another 100-lap show for the 6/8-cylinders.

The Open Competition cars will showcase their rides in a 35-lap shootout. Also on the card is a ‘Reverse Redneck Enduro’, where drivers will compete for five laps while driving around the speedway in the proper direction, with the only exception being that the cars will be racing in reverse. Regular 4-cylinder and 6/8-cylinder Enduro cars will race in the same event and the fee to participate in this race is $10. The pay will be “winner takes all”.

Drivers will start straight up as they pre-registered, and those who resister on race day will line up behind the pre-registered drivers. The cost to register on race day is $50. The transponder rental fee is $10 and pit admission is set at $25. The pit gates will swing open at 10:00 AM. The on track racing action will kick off at 1 PM.

Drivers will be warned prior to the start that they cannot pit under red flag conditions. Instead, those who wish to pit will be allowed to line up at the track/pit exit. They will be directed into the pit by an official and will not be allowed to attend to their cars until green flag racing resumes.

All of the rules, info and the pre-registered drivers are listed on the speedway website. Grandstand admission for the event is just $5 and children 10 years of age and younger will be admitted for free.

From October 7 through November 5, the track is hosting “EVERSCREAM” on Friday and Saturday nights. EVERSCREAM consists of two haunted attractions, one being their haunted trail through the woods and the second is the corn maze of horror. Admission for both attractions is just $10. Patrons are also invited to view scary movies on the projection screen. Concessions will be open for EVERSCREAM, which will be open from dusk. Nightly ticket sales will stop at 10 PM.

Fall Cruise in the Evergreens is slated for Sunday, October 9 from 10 AM through 4 PM. The event, which is a custom, classis, antique, truck, racing and cycle car show will take place in the Evergreen pit area. There will also be a flea market, where vendors can sell anything, not just racing related items. Awards will be presented for the best of show and ten additional plaques will be presented for the best appearing top 10. Vehicle registration is just $10 and the vendor fee is $15. Public admission is free. There will be food and music on site and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the SPCA.

The speedway’s first annual “King of the Green” weekend will kick off on Friday, October 14 with open practice for all divisions. The evening practice time is slated to run from 2 PM to dusk and the pit admission is set at $20. One hour of Friday’s practice (from 5 PM to 6 PM will be for Tour Type Modifieds only). Grandstand admission for practice is free for all ages.

Saturday, October 15 will feature a 50-lap $1,500 to win main event for the Evergreen Modifieds. The Dirt Modifieds, Factory Stocks and Four Cylinders are also on the card for an exciting day of action. The pit gates will swing open at 10 AM and practice will kick off at 12:30 PM. Qualifying will start at 2 PM. The grandstands will open at 12:30 PM.   The Modifieds will compete for the $4,000 prize on Sunday, October 16, plus the Late Models, Street Stocks, INEX Legends and Bandoleros will also be in action for extended lap main events. The pit gates will swing open at 10 AM and practice will kick off at 12:30 PM. Qualifying will start at 2 PM. The grandstands will open at 12:30 PM.   All purses are based on a full field of 20 cars taking the green flag in the feature. If less than 20 cars take the green, the purse will be prorated. Pit admission for Saturday or Sunday is $50.   Grandstand admission is $20 for Saturday and $25 for Sunday. Fans can purchase a special two day event grandstand pass for $40. As always, children 10 years of age and younger will be admitted into the grandstand area for free.
