Greenville-Pickens Hosting NASCAR Track Championship Night This Saturday

Champions in all weekly divisions will be crowned this Saturday night at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Championship Night.

NASCAR Late Models, limited late models, four-cylinders, renegades, pure stocks and super stocks will all do battle in the final points night of the 2016 season.

Dylan Hall leads Trey Gibson by 68 points coming into this final points night in the late model division, but Gibson and third place Ryan Walker are just 8 markers apart and it is quite possible that outsiders may be on hand as the number of points races available in the region are few and far between this late in the year.

“The Young One” Luke Sorrow leads sister-in-law Taylor by 22 points in the limited late model division.  Colby “The Kid” Howard sits third despite missing several weeks late in the year, but both Tasha Kummer and R.J. West are vying for that spot as well.

Tim Sams appears to be a lock to win the super stock track title, but Stanley Pressley and Travis Cox are still neck and neck for second and third in the standings.

With a 46-point advantage over “The Flying Schoolteacher” Ashley Granata, Buck Simmons is in control of the pure stock championship race while Granata has her hands full trying to hold back Spencer Morgan and hold on to the second spot.

Bobby Emory will win the renegades track crown, but keep your eye on the battle for second, third and fourth as Alexx Brezeale, Larry Nabors and Parker Jameson will all be gunning for those spots this Saturday.

Tommy Davis, Jr. and Chad Redding are waging war for the four-cylinder championship title and that battle will likely go down to the wire on Saturday.

Davis is just 12 points up in first going into the weekend and with the competition in this division, will be looking for that top five finish to ice the crown.

For this Saturday’s Championship night, gates open at 4pm and racing gets underway at 7:30pm.

Admission is just $15 for adults.  Students aged 9 to 11 get in for $5 and kids 8 and under are free with a paid adult.

Two more events are on the Greenville-Pickens schedule for September and October.

Next Saturday, September 24th, Entercom presents the Inaugural Carolina Motorfest, featuring live music, food and beverages, a swap meet, a car corral, a car and bike show with awards for both and a live classic car auction as well.

This is an event you won’t want to miss.  Check out www.CarolinaMotorfest.com  for more information and bring the whole family out for some fun!

The event runs from 10am to 6pm, and will close out the month of September at the track.

There will be no action at Greenville-Pickens in October until Saturday, October 22nd when the Bandit Big Rigs, Mulligan Power Trucks, Southeast Limited Late Model Series, renegades and four-cylinders will clash in the Fall Finale.

That will be the last racing event of the year at the historic half-mile.  Look for additional non-racing events to take place throughout the fall and winter with information to be released soon.
