Kingsport Speedway to honor Law Enforcement at Tonight’s Event

Kingsport Speedway will honor law enforcement during the race scheduled for tonight, July 8.

Following the tragic events in Dallas, Texas that resulted in the deaths of five officers and wounded seven others, Kingsport Speedway officials decided to honor law enforcement for their service.

“We were all deeply saddened to hear about the tragic events overnight in Texas,” said Karen Tunnell, general manager of Kingsport Speedway. “So tonight we wanted to show our respect to officers from all around and also remember the fallen.”

Law enforcement officers will receive free admission to both the front and backstretch grandstands. Officers are asked to present their badge or identification in order to receive free admission.

Pre-race festivities (approximately 7:50 p.m.) will also feature a special tribute to officers that have fallen in the line of duty and those that continue to risk their lives for the safety of others. Officers are encouraged to bring their police cruisers for a special parade lap during the festivities.

“Offering free admission is the least we can do for the brave men and women that protect us here at home,” added Tunnell. “We also will have a special tribute just before the green flag tonight.”

Tonight’s event will feature a 60-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car division race. Also taking on “The Concrete Jungle” will be Street Stock, Pure 4, Mod 4, Pure Street and Legend Cars.

Grandstand gates open at 5:30 p.m., qualifying is set for 7 p.m. and racing begins at 8 p.m. Adult admission is $10 and children ages 12-and-under are admitted free. Tier parking is available along turns three and four for $10 per vehicle plus admission.
