Ginger Zee of ‘Good Morning America’ to host red carpet at 100th Indianapolis 500

Ginger Zee, chief meteorologist on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” will host a star-studded red carpet prior to the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.

The Emmy Award-winning Zee also serves as the chief meteorologist for ABC News and reports across all broadcast and digital platforms. Throughout her career at ABC and stations in Chicago and Michigan, she has covered dozens of historic weather events. A graduate of Valparaiso University, Zee has also thrilled millions of viewers this year as a contestant on the current season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”   

“As we prepare to host the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500, we want to celebrate this epic race in every way possible. Having ‘Good Morning America’s’ chief meteorologist Ginger Zee adds celebrity and even more fun to our red carpet. We hope Ginger will also bring good racing weather with her!” said Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles. “Ginger Zee will be introducing a terrific lineup during a lead-up to the green flag that you won’t want to miss.”

The 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil will be Sunday, May 29. With a crowd traveling to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway that has not been seen in recent years, longtime fans are encouraged to begin their Race Day routines at least two hours earlier than previous years.

All fans will want to arrive early to take advantage of the full 100th Running experience, with highlights including live ESPN “SportsCenter” tapings in the Pagoda Plaza beginning at 8 a.m., an expanded fan midway and increased concession and vending opportunities.
