JLF Brings Touch a Truch to the Pee Dee

The Junior League of Florence is hosting the 2nd Annual Touch A Truck event on Saturday, May 14th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Darlington Raceway in Darlington, SC located at 1301 Harry Byrd Hwy. We are anticipating hundreds of children and families who will get a hands on experience with dozens of vehicles for a fun, family community event.

Children love to explore, climb, touch and crawl. At Touch A Truck they will get an “All Aboard!” to investigate vehicles they see out on the road. From big rigs to emergency vehicles, children of all ages can look, see, touch and ask questions. We know that unrestricted play is essential for healthy cognitive development in children. At Touch A Truck, children have the chance to explore vehicles of their choice, becoming immersed in the pretend world, experimenting and investigating large vehicles and their operators including a fire truck, police car, ambulance, an 18-wheeler, a book mobile and many more. Admission is $5 and children under 2 are free. Food and beverages will be sold by local vendors. Other activities such as face painting and a coloring zone will be available.

Funds raised at Touch A Truck will benefit the Junior League of Florence who is raising money to help The Children’s Museum of the Pee Dee, who provides community assistance grants to many local organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Lighthouse Ministries, Boys and Girls Club, Durant Center and Harvest Hope Food Bank.

The Junior League has served Florence for more than 66 years and has a rich history of improving the quality of life for children and families in the Pee Dee.
