Country Music’s Best-Kept Secret – Eric Lee Beddingfield – Set to Open Saturday Night Concert

One of the best-kept secrets in country music, singer/songwriter Eric Lee Beddingfield, will open Talladega Superspeedway’s traditional Saturday Night Concert (April 30), before giving way for iconic country duo Big & Rich, featuring Cowboy Troy, who will headline the prestigious event as part of the track’s spring race weekend, featuring the GEICO 500.

After some epic racing with the Sparks Energy 300 NASCAR XFINITY Series earlier on Saturday, the ‘Dega faithful will be treated to a grand time with Beddingfield and Big & Rich for one of the most anticipated Saturday Night Concerts ever at NASCAR’s Most Competitive track.

Beddingfield has been the most-played independent country artist in America on secondary radio over the past five years. Among his many accomplishments, Beddingfield has posted five consecutive top 20 singles on the Music Row Charts, making him the first independent artist in history to do so. His most recent top 20, “I Just Wanna Play,” is a result of his collaboration with legendary singer/songwriter/producer John Rich of Big & Rich.

Within a short two-year period, Beddingfield accumulated over 100,000 spins on the Music Row station panels and was named “Artist To Watch” by Billboard Magazine and “Independent Artist of the Year” by Music Row Magazine. Ending 2012 in style, Beddingfield made his Grand Ole Opry debut alongside one of his most admired role models, George Jones. The two collaborated in the performance of Beddingfield’s song, “The Gospel According To Jones,” which sadly was the last video recorded by Jones.

After 12 years of heavy touring, he has written and performed alongside legendary artists such as Jones, Dolly Parton, Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers, Gov’t Mule) and Rickey Medlocke (Lynyrd Skynyrd), and teamed with Kent Wells (Parton, Reba McEntire) to produce his second album released in 2010.

Meanwhile, alter in the evening, Big & Rich, featuring Cowboy Troy, will dazzle and impress fans of all genres with their own forms of rock, country and rap. They will play a host of all-time favorites, and will feature their highly successful album titled “Gravity” that has had back-to-back top ten hits – “Look at You” and “Run Away With You” – that has turned heads for years.

These hit songs and many more will have NASCAR’s Party Capital reveling well into the night as Big & Rich will dazzle and impress fans of all genres with their own forms of rock, country and rap. How does one go about witnessing this mega event? The concert is absolutely FREE to anyone who has a ticket to the Sunday (May 1) GEICO 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in which Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is the defending champion.

The Talladega weekend kicks off Friday with a full slate of on-track activity which includes practice sessions for the Sparks Energy 300 and GEICO 500 plus practice, qualifying and the drop of the green flag of the General Tire 200 for the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards. The General Tire 200 is set for a 5:00 pm (CDT) start. Friday night the track will host its fifth “Big One on the Blvd” parade, featuring NASCAR drivers and loads of fun, at 7:30 pm.

Saturday’s activities kick off at 9:30 am (CDT) with NASCAR XFINITY and Sprint Cup Series qualifying, followed by the start of the Sparks Energy 300 at 2:00 pm. Later in the evening, the Saturday Night Infield Concert with Beddingfield and Big & Rich, Featuring Cowboy Troy, begins at 7:30 pm. Sunday’s GEICO 500 gets underway at 12:00 pm.
