“The Big One on the BLVD,” NASCAR’s Biggest and Baddest Party, Set to take Center Stage

The premier NASCAR party of the year, Talladega Superspeedway’s “The Big One on the Blvd,” is ready to take center stage in the infamous Talladega infield on Friday, April 29, as “Dega Nation” will put on their party caps and enjoy all the fun and excitement for both fans and drivers alike.

This year’s one-of-a-kind party promises nothing less than ridiculously fun entertainment for everyone. Scheduled are four unique “fan challenges” that will be overseen by an array of NASCAR’s top drivers after they are paraded down legendary Talladega Blvd. Scheduled are:

* Slip-N-Strike – 4 teams of 2 will act as human bowling balls down our slippery fast lane
* Eat Your Nanas – Teams of 2 will compete to peel, pass and consume as many bananas as possible in 2 minutes
* Crazy Balls – 4 contestants will attempt to compete in an obstacle course in driver-themed Human Hamster Ball Zorbs
* Capture the Pickle –  8 female contestants will try to capture the pickle first in the famous Big One BBQ sauce pit

Competition winners will not only claim bragging rights, but will also win cash prizes.

Countless drivers have been a part of “The Big One on the Blvd” since its inception in the spring of 2014 – either by serving as a judge for the event or just showing up to take in all of the fun. The list has included Clint Bowyer, Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., Brad Keselowski, Jeff Gordon, Greg Biffle, Michael Waltrip, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson, Kasey Kahne, Danica Patrick, Denny Hamlin and more.

“The track has done a good job of making this bigger and better since we started it,” said Bowyer, who will race the No. 15 Chevrolet SS for HScott Motorsports in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on May 1. “It’s not very often you get to see some of the drivers outside the garage or the race track, so this is a cool opportunity for us to kind of kick back and interact with some of the fans. There’s no way you won’t have a great time. Make sure to check it out. It’s Talladega baby!”

The “Big One on the Blvd” which recently won NASCAR’s Most Innovative Driver Integration Event/Program for 2015, is sure to be one of the best yet this spring and is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. (CDT) on Friday, April 29. As the parade rolls down the north end of Talladega Boulevard, drivers will throw out swag items as they pass some of the most outrageously decorated RV’s in the world, finally ending up at the main stage for the fan competitions. The event is open to all infield customers and golden ticket renewal guests.

Before the activities take place in the infield, the action on the track gets the weekend going earlier in the day with practice sessions for both the GEICO 500 (Dale Earnhardt, Jr. defending champion) and Sparks Energy 300 (Joey Logano defending champion), as well as the green flag for the traditional General Tire 200 ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards event (5 pm CDT start). Saturday morning will feature qualifying for both the GEICO 500 (NASCAR Sprint Cup Series) and the Sparks Energy 300 (NASCAR XFINITY Series), which also gets the green flag later in the day at 2 p.m. CDT. That evening the traditional Infield Concert will be headlined by Big & Rich featuring Cowboy Troy. Admission is free with a GEICO 500 ticket. Earnhardt, Jr., hopes to become the first driver since Gordon (2004-05) to win back-to-back GEICO 500s. The race is set for a 12 noon CDT start on Sunday, May 1
