Friday night racing returns to Kingsport Speedway

Kingsport Speedway kicked off the 2016 season last weekend with a Saturday afternoon event, but the real season gets underway tomorrow (Friday), April 1.

This week’s event is the first Friday night race of the season at “The Concrete Jungle.” The remainder of the weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series races will be held on Friday nights with the season concluding in late August.

Last week, 2013 track champion Chad Finchum dominated the 60-lap Late Model Stock feature. Finchum led the majority of the race and took home the winner’s hardware.

Dennis Deese grabbed his first victory after a wreck-filled end to the Street Stock race. Billy Byington claimed his first win of the season in the Pure 4 division. Kirby Gobble conquered the Mod 4 feature after Billy Duty spun from the lead, and Brad Ball overtook Marty Tunnell for the Pure Street win.

Headlining the race will be the Late Model Stock Car division for 60 laps. Also on tap are the Street Stock, Pure 4, Mod 4, and Pure Street divisions.

Grandstands open at 5:30 PM, and green flag racing is scheduled for 8 PM. Adult admission is $10 with children 12-and-under admitted free. Tier parking is available at $10 per car plus admission.
