Evergreen Focused on Continuous Improvements, Test & Tune Dates and Season Opener

As we all know from the past and now after sitting idle for over a year, the racing surface at Evergreen Raceway in St. Johns, PA has been pretty rough and challenging in a few areas. Mainly exiting turn four.Several Legends drivers had rented the track over the last two weekends and even veteran drivers had mentioned this. The speedway had planned to have some repaving work done to the track anyhow and after receiving several estimates, the work is schedule to begin the week of April 4th.

Several drivers with larger, heavier cars, such as Four Cylinders and Modifieds have taken to the speedway as well and didn’t have any issues with the speedway surface.

“It’s a challenge, especially for the light Legends cars”, said Evergreen Raceway Co-Promoter, Jason Makarewicz. “I want to get that taken care of right away so that it’s all ready to go prior to the start of the official season.”

With that said, the speedway has decided to once again cancel ‘Four Banger Saturday’, which was slated for Saturday, April 2nd. They will still host practice on Sunday, April 3rd.Makarewicz continued, “We chose someone to do the work to the track and the main focus is turns one and two, plus the exit of turn four down to the start finish line. Cancelling the even on April 2nd sucks, but I’m sure that many of the racers will be thrilled with the final product and I can’t wait to see their smiles after racing on it.”

Two other open practice dates are on tab as well, on Sunday, April 10th and then the final one on Saturday, April 16th.

Pit admission for practices is set at $15 and of course, there is no charge to take part in the test and tune sessions. Pit gates will open at 11 AM and practice will kick off at 1 PM. The grandstands will be free to the public during the three practice dates.

The much anticipated Opening Day at the track is scheduled for Sunday, April 17th and will feature the Evergreen Modifieds, Dirt Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks and Four Cylinders. The pits will open at 10 AM and practice will kick off at 12:30. Racing will start at 2 PM. The pit entrance fee is $30 with pit license and $40 without.

Grandstand admission is set at $8 and children 10 years of age and younger will be admitted for free. Grandstand gates will swing open at 12:30 PM.

The concession stand will be open for business for each of these events, through the entire 2016 season..
