To celebrate the opening of the newly renovated “World Center of Racing” which recently hosted the Rolex 24 At Daytona, racing fans everywhere can now purchase a ½ oz., 99.99% pure silver medallion, finely crafted by the Royal Canadian Mint, by which to remember the “re-imagined” Daytona International Speedway. The modernized track, featuring $400 million in renovations, has all the amenities race fans could want and this silver medallion commemorates the new debut of the most internationally-recognized race track in the world. The Daytona International Speedway silver medallion is available for purchase now, with a world-wide limit of only 30,000.

“The Mint is pleased to celebrate the passion Canadians share with the rest of the world for the thrill of motorsport racing with a pure silver medallion honoring the ‘World Center of Racing:’ the Daytona International Speedway,” said John Moore, Vice-President of Sales at the Royal Canadian Mint. “We are delighted to give race fans a great keepsake by which to remember one of history’s greatest monuments to motorsports.”

”We’re excited to commemorate the opening of the new motorsports stadium with the Royal Canadian Mint,” Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III said. “This is a historic moment for Daytona International Speedway and our race fans will be able to celebrate with this unique piece of motorsports memorabilia.”

Designed by artist Julius Csotonyi, the reverse of the fine silver Daytona International Speedway medallion features an engraving of Daytona Beach, Fla.’s iconic Speedway. The obverse shows an overhead view of the sprawling motorsports stadium; in the top right corner, the famous Speedway’s frontstretch is dotted with race cars as the DAYTONA 500 gets underway, heralding the start of another exhilarating NASCAR season.

Retailing for $29.95 CAD ($22.95 USD), the medallion can be ordered as of today by contacting the Mint at 1-800-267-1871 in Canada, 1-800-268-6468 in the US, or online at www.mint.ca.
