TMS offering unique seat for season-opening Daytona 500

Texas Motor Speedway will once again open its massive infield area for free during the opening weekend of the NASCAR season so fans can enjoy the infield revelry and spectacle of the season-opening Daytona 500 weekend on Feb. 20 and 21 on the world’s largest HDTV screen.
Fans can bring their RVs, campers and tents – or just simply tailgate – to celebrate NASCAR’s opening weekend and have a front-row seat to enjoy the racing on “Big Hoss”, the world’s largest HDTV screen that is nearly a half-acre in size and nine stories tall. Fans interested in camping must RSVP by Sunday, Feb. 14, and can do so by visiting www.texasmotorspeedway.com/DaytonaRSVP. Tailgaters will be permitted to show up on race days and do not need to RSVP.
“This is the next best thing to being there,” Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. “I could not think of a better way to celebrate the first NASCAR weekend of the season than by watching two great races with other fans on the world’s largest HDTV screen. It promises to be a fun weekend for everyone that will be out here.”
Texas Motor Speedway will open the infield at 8 a.m. CT Saturday, Feb. 20, to allow fans to select a spot on a first-come, first-choice basis for overnight camping purposes as well as for tailgaters. The fans will be treated to that day’s season-opening NASCAR XFINITY Series race at 2:30 p.m. on “Big Hoss”. There will be two movies shown that evening for overnight campers. The infield opens once again at 8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, in advance of the Daytona 500 that begins at 12 p.m. CT.
Fans also will have the opportunity to take a spin around Texas Motor Speedway’s high-banked, 1.5-mile oval to get a feel for the weekend’s racing action. The Team Texas Driving Experience will offer the opportunity to take a few laps in a two-seater NASCAR-style stock car for $99 from 12:30- 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Fans can take a free ride in the speedway’s official Chevrolet SS pace cars Sunday only from 10 a.m.-Noon.
Texas Motor Speedway also will have an infield display open throughout the weekend featuring show vehicles, appearances by “The Great American Sweethearts,” concessions from Levy Restaurants, the latest apparel from Speedway Motorsports Inc. Properties, and more.
