Darlington Raceway announces 2016 start times

Darlington Raceway and NASCAR announced that the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500®, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, will start at 6 p.m. ET.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 race will compete on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Both events are scheduled to be televised live on NBC and broadcast on the Motor Racing Network, as well as SiriusXM Channel 90.

“We are fortunate to have a fantastic TV partner in NBC,” track President Chip Wile said. “They did a tremendous job buying into the whole celebration of the sport and bringing it to life for millions of fans watching around the world. We look forward to seeing what they are going to do in 2016. It’s great that both of our races will again be broadcast on NBC.”

In 2015, NBC supported Darlington Raceway’s award-winning historic celebration of the sport with a throwback-style broadcast reminiscent of the early 1970s.

NBC used one of its original versions of its logo during the weekend, while the announcers wore period clothing during the broadcast. A portion of the Bojangles’ Southern 500 was broadcast by legends Ken Squier, Ned Jarrett and Dale Jarrett.

NBC will be supporting the track’s throwback campaign again in 2016.
