Purchase a piece of MIS history!

Exciting, competitive, historic, and now you can own a piece of it.

With the historic repave of Michigan International Speedway, fans have the opportunity to purchase a piece of history with a unique collectable medallion featuring a part of the racing surface.

MIS is undergoing its fourth repave in its storied history. And with nearly an inch of track surface already removed through the milling process, the speedway has created special commemorative medallions, which have the ground up surface encased in plastic with the MIS logo and state of Michigan proudly displayed on the front.

Each piece is approximately two inches in diameter and is available for $12.95, plus $6.95 for shipping and handling.

“Think of all the memories that have been created at and by the racetrack since it was built. Now think of the last time the speedway was repaved,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “These medallions are a piece of MIS history to show your family and friends. And each one contains authentic pieces of the track surface.”

The track was built in 1968. The track was repaved in 1977, 1986 and 1995. This is the first time MIS is offering pieces of the track for fans.

The medallions capture pavement from memorable events like the NASCAR race in 2000 when Dale Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kerry Earnhardt all raced together, marking the only time all three raced together in a Sprint Cup race – and Dale Earnhardt’s final start at the track; or one of the closest Indy-car finishes in history when Alex Barron beat Sam Hornish Jr. in 2003 by .01-thousandths of a second; or historic wins by America’s favorite NASCAR drivers like Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, Dale Jarrett, Ernie Irvan, Rusty Wallace and others.

To order a medallion, visit MISpeedway.com and click on the ad on the homepage or call 800-354-1010.

Fans who attended MIS events in 2011 will be receiving a renewal for the 2012 campaign in the mail in the next two weeks. Track medallions may also be added to ticket orders during the renewal process.

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is a Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where race fans and sports fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the fun of NASCAR and the thrill of a great time for guests and drivers alike.
