On Sunday, installation on the new massive identification sign as part of the ongoing DAYTONA Rising project began. The “supersign” will be located near the new center injector/entrance, welcoming race fans and guests to the “World Center of Racing.”
The “DAYTONA” text measures 13 feet 6 inches tall and the “INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY” text is more than 12 feet tall, while the entire length of the sign measures 355 feet.
The letter “D” was the first of the LED-lit letters installed.
Jones Sign Company, a national specialist in the sign manufacturer and installation industry, built and transported the letters. During the last week, the letters traveled nearly 1,500 miles across six states (via two semi-trucks) before arriving at DIS.
The completion of the sign installation is scheduled for December 2015.
