Georgia Father-Son NASCAR icons star in AMS ad campaign

The power-packed father-son duo that is NASCAR Hall of Famer and Dawsonville, Georgia native Bill Elliott and his son, Chase, who will slide behind the wheel of the famed No. 24 car for Hendrick Motorsports in the Sprint Cup Series in 2016, star in a new TV commercial and advertising campaign for their home track, Atlanta Motor Speedway, set to debut later this week.

The flagship ad, a 30-second TV commercial filmed on site at Atlanta Motor Speedway and featuring vintage NASCAR footage, stars Bill Elliott conjuring historic milestones from the track’s history. He then appears in the garage at AMS with the famed Ford Thunderbird he drove in the 1980s before a cut to son, Chase, who drives home a theme of past-and-present racing harmony.

A sneak preview of the ad was shown to media who gathered at Atlanta Motor Speedway last Thursday for a NASCAR open team test, where Chase was testing the 2016 Sprint Cup Series rules package in the No. 25 car for Hendrick Motorsports. He then made an appearance in the Marcy Scott Media Center to discuss the campaign and the forthcoming 2016 Sprint Cup Series season.

“I appreciate everyone here at AMS giving me the opportunity to do that,” he said. “I think it’s pretty cool, and I was happy that Dad agreed to do it too. I think that’s special. This is our home track on the circuit. It definitely is mine, and I know it has been for my Dad for many years.”

The younger Elliott will fill the vacancy in the No. 24 car for Hendrick Motorsports in NASCAR’s top racing series left by four-time Sprint Cup Series champ Jeff Gordon beginning in 2016. He will return to his home track for his Atlanta Sprint Cup Series debut on Feb. 28 in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.

“I’m definitely excited. And I don’t really think it’s all quite set in just yet,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to next season, and the more days we spend doing tests like this, the more it starts to set in for me that the next time we come to this track will be next year in the No. 24 car, and we’ll be racing Sprint Cup full time.”

The 30-second commercial will air for the first time during the Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend and will kick off the new campaign for Atlanta Motor Speedway ahead of its NASCAR weekend set for next February. The commercial can be viewed online now by clicking here.
