McFly-Brown Racing announces entry for AAA Texas 500

McFly-Brown Racing announced Wednesday that the one-car organization will make its long anticipated NASCAR debut in the AAA Texas 500 Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, Nov. 8, at Texas Motor Speedway.

Team co-owner Marty McFly is slated to drive the No. 85 DeLorean DMC-12 in the AAA Texas 500 while fellow co-owner Emmett “Doc” Brown will serve as the crew chief on the plutonium-powered car. The car will be sponsored by the film classic “Back To The Future Part II,” which is the second of a trilogy of movies from 1985-1990 that is being re-released nationwide beginning today.

The DeLorean DMC-12 had its first test at Twin Pines Mall on October 26, 1985, but the future NASCAR program was put on hold due to mechanical issues and timing until McFly-Brown Racing’s triumphant return today. McFly began testing this morning at Texas Motor Speedway in anticipation of the AAA Texas 500.

“The car is super fast, but I’m having trouble keeping it on the ground when I really gas it,” McFly said. “Doc has done a tremendous job with giving me plenty of horsepower, but we need to tweak the aero package in this test to get the DeLorean DMC-12 race ready for the AAA Texas 500. I’m looking forward to ending Jimmie Johnson’s streak of consecutive AAA Texas 500 victories at three and get me one of those cowboy hats in Victory Lane.”
