Talladega Superspeedway, Chevrolet Set To Look Pretty In Pink To Benefit The American Cancer Society

Fans coming to Talladega Superspeedway for the thrilling CampingWorld.com 500 on Sunday, Oct. 25, should not be surprised to see plenty of pink at the track, specifically the spiffy pink Chevrolet SS pace car that will raise money for the American Cancer Society to finish the fight against breast cancer.

While the pink Chevrolet SS pace car will lead the field to the green flag in the CampingWorld.com 500 – the final race of the Contender Round of the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup – during every yellow flag caution lap run during the event, Chevrolet will contribute $350 to the American Cancer Society’s ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Campaign.’

“We are extremely happy to be working again this year to raise awareness during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Talladega Superspeedway,” said Grant Lynch, Chairman of NASCAR’s Most Competitive track. “The American Cancer Society’s ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Campaign’ has been a mainstay here for a number of years and we are proud to be involved in this important fight.”

On Saturday morning, Oct. 24, Chevrolet will host 25 breast cancer survivors and their guests for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) fred’s 250 Powered by Coca-Cola event. The group will be treated to a NASCAR experience complete with pink souvenir bags and hot laps around the 2.66-mile track in the pink Chevrolet SS pace car with (scheduled) drivers Danica Patrick and Ryan Newman. Afterward, they will get to watch the exciting fred’s 250 Powered by Coca-Cola NCWTS race (which will start at noon CDT).

The weekend is part of a continuing point of emphasis for Chevrolet, which since 2011, has partnered with General Motors and the United Auto Workers to raise more than $4.4 million for the campaign through many national and grassroots activities.
