Pahule Sweeps Second Night of Summer Sizzler at Delta Speedway

Brentwood’s Jeffery Pahule brought out the brooms on Saturday at Delta Speedway presented by Valley Strong Credit Union, winning both the Super 600 and Non-Wing Micro Sprint features during the final night of the Summer Sizzler. Pahule’s weekend featured three wins and a third-place finish in four main events and paid nearly $2000 in prize money. Hayden Stepps of Oakdale also was a sweeper by winning both Friday and Saturday night in Restricted. Logan Banks of Bakersfield won Saturday’s Jr. Sprints action.

Madera’s Logan Trevino was the quickest winged Super 600 qualifier before Raio Salmon of Fresno, Tucker Lacaze of Rocklin, and Rylee Whitehouse of Pleasanton snared the heat races.

Salmon slotted alongside Visalia’s Jett Barnes for the 30-lap feature with Pahule going to work from the outside of row two. Third starting Lacaze knifed up the inside in turn three to lead lap one. On the second lap, action was halted when Josiah Vega of Antioch flipped on the front stretch. Vega was able to rejoin the race. Mattix Salmon of Fresno crashed in turn three for a caution on lap three as well.

When racing resumed, Raio Salmon held the second position despite several challengers. Pahule nabbed the second spot in lapped traffic on lap 22 then clawed towards Lacaze. Pahule dove underneath Lacaze on the backstretch to seize the lead on lap 25.

Pahule won the $500 feature followed by a charging Raio Salmon, Lacaze, Barnes, and Panella.

Pahule scored a brilliant quick-time in qualifying in Non-Wing over a 31 car field. Four heat races were required with Nikko Panella, Valley Springs’ Dan Mognaga, Cody Gray of Auburn, and Mattix Salmon taking the wins. After a pair of B-mains, 22 drivers were set for a 30-lap contest.

A zero inversion gave Pahule the opportunity to start on the pole position to anchor the strong field. Pahule relished it, driving to a $750 win after a brief challenge from Nikko Panella to complete the sweep. Jett Barnes nabbed second at the finish followed by Panella, Jett Yantis of Bakersfield, and Arizona’s Quinn Thurein.

Hayden Stepps of Oakdale not only swept both the Friday and Saturday main events for Restricted, she also led Saturday’s qualifying session. Brycen Roush of Riverdale and Jackson Tardiff of Vacaville won Saturday heat races.

Stepps started on the pole for the 25-lap event alongside Tracy’s Levi Osborne. Arizona’s Jace Thurein drove into second place at the start. Stepps navigated lapped traffic successfully to take the $500 win followed by Thurein, Roush, Kaiden Gowen of Watsonville, and Osborne.

Jr. Sprints action kicked off with four heat races, won by David Anderson of Clayton, Logan Banks of Bakersfield, Friday runner-up Mackcen Roush of Riverdale, and Samantha Dozier of Vacaville.

The 20-lap feature saw Banks pacing a closely matched top-five pack. Roush used lapped traffic to close on Banks and challenge for the lead before spinning on the inside in turn two for a caution flag. On the restart, Banks maintained a car length separation on Friday winner Haven Sherman and that’s how they would finish in the $500 to win contest. Heston Stepps of Oakdale, Dozier, and Zachary Williams of Sacramento were the top-five finishers.
