6-10 Report: ARCA’s Atlas 100 at Iowa Speedway

Editor’s Note: The 6-10 report is a series of interviews of drivers from sixth position to 10th position after a race. Here is what they told Speedway Digest about their day.

6th: No. 2 Andres Perez

“I’ve been frustrated with where we finished, because we had a really good race overall. We just couldn’t get the result there at the end we thought we would. We were fighting in third place and we stayed there for a while in the race. We got way better throughout the run and I think it was a pretty good race overall from our side and stayed pretty consistent, but we just couldn’t get the result at the end with the restart and all the chaos at the end. But it was a solid day, you know, keeping the points lead. We can call this a good day, but I’m going to leave here frustrated.”

7th: No. 25 Gus Dean

“Yeah, Kevin (Reed Jr., Crew Chief)  and all of them gave me a great car. It was a rocket ship. Just every restart we would take like four laps before it would come in, so we just really struggled there on the restart to maintain track position. But then once we got four laps into a run, it would take off on a rail and it was fast and was easy to drive. So the main thing there was struggling there on the restarts. On the last lap, I just made a mistake getting into turn three. I know better than that. I watched him in the mirror instead of watching my corner. Hadn’t made a mistake like that in a long time, but I’m just frustrated at myself a little bit.”

8th: No. 55 Toni Breidinger

“I mean I feel like I made too many mistakes. I think we probably should have been like, top five with the car that Venturini Motorsports brought me. Overall it was a good race, and we’re good on points.”

9th: No. 6 Lavar Scott

“It was good. We learned a lot throughout the day and obviously we started 10th and we were racing for fourth or fifth. So we obviously got better throughout the day, but  just got caught.in a wreck there late. It’s part of it, and we just have to come back next week.”

10th: No. 10 Chris Tate

“I don’t even know where to start. It’s been a long day, but to see my number on the pylon in 10th place, it makes me so happy. To me, it’s a win and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I’m on top of the world right now.”

“Honorable Mentions*

14th: No. 03 Alex Clubb

“Just sucks we didn’t get to use our Yates engine car. It’s a better setup car with a better chassis. I was really looking forward to running it here, but we just couldn’t get the motor to run right. We brought this car knowing that it would run but doesn’t handle it well. Being 10  laps down sucks, but finishing is nice. So we’ll take it and go on to Mid Ohio and ride the struggle bus there. I’m not a real course guy, and I’ve never done one. We’ll see what happens.”
