Gateway Motorsports Park Releases Inbound Traffic Update for Three-Day Event

In anticipation of record crowds for this weekend’s AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals, officials from Gateway Motorsports Park have released updated traffic directions for those attending the three day event.  The facility offers multiple entry points into the facility to reduce congestion.

Traffic coming from Missouri is encouraged to use the new I-70 Stan Musial/Veteran’s Memorial Bridge.

GENERAL PARKING:   Please take I-55/I-70 to Illinois exit 4 (IL 203) and proceed north to the main entry point into the facility (across from the truck stop). All traffic will be directed to turn left into the facility and then take an immediate right (north) to the general admission parking area.  Daily parking is $20 per vehicle and will be collected upon entry.

ORANGE WEST (ADVANCE PURCHASE ONLY) / SUITE HOLDER / ADA (HANDICAP) / GOLD KEY – Recommended route is Illinois exit 4 (IL 203) South to Collinsville Road.  Turn right on Collinsville Road (at the BP station), proceed approximately 1/8 of a mile and turn right into the facility at the Gateway Dirtplex.  Proceed under the interstate overpass to designated parking areas.

GATEWAY WILL CALL / TICKET PICK-UP:  Located directly across from Gateway Motorsports Park next to the truck stop.  Upon exiting Interstate I-55/I-70 via exit 4, please proceed north and immediately turn right into toward the truck stop.  Please look for the large sign that reads ‘Will Call.’  All pre-purchased tickets and pre-arranged Gateway Credentials will be available at that location.

The AAA NHRA Midwest Nationals Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship at Gateway Motorsports Park, September 25 – 27 is one of the loudest, most exhilarating, heart-pounding weekends in St. Louis motorsports. The event is the second of six playoff races in and 20th of 24 races in the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

SCHEDULE:      

FRIDAY, Sept. 25 – LUCAS OIL SERIES qualifying

NHRA J&A SERVICE PRO MOD SERIES qualifying at 2:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.

MELLO YELLO SERIES qualifying at 2:45 and 5:15 p.m.

SATURDAY, Sept. 26 – LUCAS OIL SERIES eliminations

NHRA J&A SERVICE PRO MOD SERIES qualifying at 1 p.m.; first round of eliminations at 3:45 p.m.

MELLO YELLO SERIES qualifying at 1:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.

SUNDAY, Sept. 27 – Pre-race ceremonies, 10 a.m.

MELLO YELLO SERIES eliminations begin at 11 a.m.
