Bristol Motor Speedway announces July 29 fan day

Up to 12 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams are expected to test at Bristol Motor Speedway Wednesday, July 29, an event that the Speedway is making free to the public as part of the “It’s MY Bristol Baby!” campaign to express the Speedway’s appreciation to local fans and supporters.

Bristol Motor Speedway Fan Day activities run 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., ET. Beginning at Noon, the Speedway will offer interactive displays and kids’ activities including show cars, mascot appearances, photo sharing, inflatables and face painting.

“For teams, this is a last chance tune-up for the August 22 IRWIN Tools Night Race,” said Jerry Caldwell, executive vice president and general manager for BMS. “It’s a great opportunity for everyone to come on out, bring the family, have some fun and watch NASCAR’s top drivers get ready for the night race.”

Participating Sprint Cup drivers will be announced the week of July 27. Guests can enter the Speedway through the North or South entrances off Volunteer Parkway, and the stands via Gate 7.

This year, rather than promote individual team testing, NASCAR developed the National Series Master Unified Test Schedule, which provides crews an opportunity to work with the new season’s rules package. Only one team from each Sprint Cup organization is allowed to participate in the open team test.

Voted a Top 5 Motorsports Race in the entire world by the USA Today Reader’s Choice Awards—the only NASCAR event that made the list—the IRWIN Tools Night Race will take place August 22 at the World’s Fastest Half Mile. Joey Logano is the defending winner of the IRWIN Tools Night Race.

Additionally, IRWIN Tools Night Race account holders are eligible to reserve tickets to the Battle at Bristol, college football’s biggest-ever game. Scheduled for September 10, 2016, the Battle pits border rivals the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech against each other at Bristol Motor Speedway and is expected to set a new NCAA attendance record.

The quantity of tickets each account holder can reserve is based on the customer’s Priority Points, and the only way to guarantee Battle at Bristol tickets is to become a BMS season ticket holder.
