Twin 75 lap races for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division will be the featured attraction of the night Saturday, May 9 when South Boston Speedway returns to action with the running of the Charles Anderson Lawn Care NASCAR Late Model Twin 75s.
Six action-packed races will be run under the lights at America’s Hometown Track. The first event of the evening will begin at 7 p.m.
In honor of Mother’s Day Weekend all mothers will be admitted for $5 as part of “Mom’s Night Out” at America’s Hometown Track.
In addition to the twin 75-lap races for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division, other races featured Saturday night include 50-lap events for the Limited Sportsman Division and the Modified Division, a 30-lap race for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division competitors and a 15-lap event for the Budweiser Hornets Division.
The region’s top NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division will, once again, be on hand for the racing action. The opening five NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division events of the 2015 season have featured four different winners.
Two-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Lee Pulliam has visited Victory Lane twice this season, while other winners have included former NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Philip Morris, current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor Timothy Peters, and former South Boston Speedway champion Matt Bowling.
It’s early in the season, but Pulliam owns a slim one-point lead over Bowling in the chase for the 2015 NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division championship at South Boston Speedway. Quin Houff, Bobby McCarty and Juan Garcia round out the top five in the division point standings.
Two-time defending champion Danny Willis Jr. owns an eight-point lead over Trey Crews in the early race for the Limited Sportsman Division championship. Willis has won two of the first three events of the campaign, while one-time winner Joey Throckmorton is third in the current point standings.
One-time winner Stuart Crews holds a five-point lead over Greg Autry in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division standings, while Jimmy Humblet, a one-time winner, leads the Modified Division standings and two-time winner Eric Winslow sits atop the Budweiser Hornets Division standings.
Pit gates will open Saturday, May 9 at 2 p.m. and practice for all divisions will be held from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Grandstand gates will open Saturday at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials to set the starting lineups for the night of racing will get cranked up at 5:30 p.m.
Admission will be $10 for adults. Children six and under will be admitted free with a paid adult.
